After all the years Trump spent trying to have his dictator wannabe military parade, he finally got his wish. I’m betting he woke up this morning, wishing he hadn’t!

You’re gonna LOVE the video coverage - schadenfreude joy. We’re also going to discuss the contradictions of Trump and the military.

Millions Protested!

First of all, thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to peacefully protest. PBS is reporting that MILLIONS, yes MILLIONS turned out at nationwide demonstrations!

The neat thing about it, is I would expect a big turnout in places like NYC, Chicago and other cities where loads of Democrats live. But yesterday we also saw thousands show up in small suburbs, and in really red states! I mean who would have guessed, according to the NYT that that more than 7,000 would show up in Cincinnati (people there told me there were closer to 10,000).

And many thousands in Boise, Idaho.

And many more thousands Des Moines, Iowa.

Of course the protests and marches were huge in Chicago (tens of thousands), Atlanta, Denver, Charlotte and Philly. Here’s New York City.

Understandably, some of the largest crowds were in California. Tens of thousands marched in the Bay Area. And some did this awesome display on the beach!

Matched in creativity across the country by the more than 1,000 folks in Bennington, Vermont.

Contradictions of Deploying Troops

Trump’s military parade revealed strange dichotomies. One was that while Trump relishes the idea of parading the military down the streets of D.C., like a U.S. version of Kim Jong Un, he at the same time openly shuns deploying U.S. troops for conflicts.

The NYT notes:

…as a real war broke out this week in the Middle East, Mr. Trump seemed reluctant to get involved, declining to join Israel in its aerial blitz against Iran’s nuclear facilities despite years of chest-thumping threats of “obliteration” against the Islamic regime.

Trump also has been notably shifting troops away from our allies in Europe, and help for Ukraine in preserving democracy.
