The fallout continues for law firms that capitulated to Trump and his regime, and I might add, it is such glorious karma!
We’ve previously covered the mass exodus of big clients, as well as the loss of key partners from what I have termed, the Capitulators. This came after nine law firms, starting with Paul Weiss, capitulated to Trump rather than fight him in court. Because it is important to name names in such situations, here are the other eight Capitulators: Kirkland & Ellis; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Latham & Watkins; Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft; Willkie Farr & Gallagher; Allen Overy Shearman Sterling US LLP; and Milbank LLP.
Four law firms chose the right path, to fight for the rule of law, our legal system, and our democracy. The four firms challenged Trump’s blatantly unconstitutional executive orders in court, and already three - Jenner & Block, Perkins Coie, and WilmerHale - have prevailed in blocking said orders. The fourth, Susman Godfrey is by all accounts expected to prevail.
It is also noteworthy to observe that with the benefit of time, and continued consequences, no additional firms have capitulated or been targeted. This seems yet another in the long list of examples that we have covered in this project, of Trump pushing boundaries to see how far he can go and how much he can get away with, until he hits a road block, as he has here.
Let’s check in on some more delish developments impacting firms that capitulate to Trump!
