A Preliminary Classified Report Has Been Leaked
A reminder to follow the facts and stay skeptical
As we’ve been saying in this series, from the night of the attack on Iran, stick with the facts and see where they lead.
As I wrote this morning, today the House and Senate were scheduled to get a briefing on Trump’s Iran strikes. It was unclear what level of detail the briefing would go into, but at least it was a start.
That briefing never happened. It was cancelled earlier today.
Also noteworthy, even senior Democrats like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have yet to be given any information from the Trump White House. Jeffries said at a news conference today:
“There have been no facts that have been presented to the American people or to the Congress to confirm that Iran’s nuclear program has been completely and totally obliterated.”
Well, this afternoon there is more. Someone leaked a preliminary classified U.S. report to the NYT. The initial assessment is that the American bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites sealed off the entrances to two of the facilities but did not collapse their underground buildings, setting Iran’s program back by mere months.
Whereas prior to the strikes, U.S. intelligence agencies had said that if Iran tried to rush to making a bomb, it would take about three months. Now it would take less than six months.
